It feels like home,
Mr Kobus Stander takes the position of most seniority. He ensures all the optimal functions in the individual hostels by visitations and communications with the Hostel Masters and hostel occupants. There are three Boy’s Hostels: Kremetart, Taaibos and Bonsai. There is one girl’s hostel: Kiepersol, where Ms Ilze Aucamp takes the position of seniority.
The Senior Boy’s Hostel at Ligbron Academy of Technology, is known as Kremetart. This hostel accommodates all the Grade 11 and 12 learners who successfully qualify for Hostel accommodation.
The name Kremetart resembles the tree it represents. It is symbolic that the Kremetart can withstand droughts and provide shelter against storms and harsh sunlight. Similary, this hostel can withstand problems and uphold a strong value system, which has become a norm to the other hostels, and which provide shelter to them also.

The second boy’s hostel is named Taaibos. Taaibos provides accommodation for all the Grade 9 and 10 learners who successfully qualify for hostel accommodation.
The name Taaibos resembles the scrub it represents. This scrub needs intensive pruning, without which it could easily turn into a miss-mash of interlaced branches. It is symbolic of the most difficult group of learners in a school who are neither brand newcomers nor seniors. Residents of this hostel are actively trying out new things, while house masters and hostel representatives see to it that only the best comes from it. Taaibos serves this group.

The junior boy’s hostel at Ligbron Academy of Technology is called Bonsai. All Grade 8 learners who successfully qualify for Hostel accommodation will start in Bonsai.
The name Bonsai refers to an ancient art cultivating miniature trees. This is symbolic of the task within Bonsai of cultivating young men from boys. The foundation is supplied to these young men to grow in the right direction. By the time they reach matric, the growth they will experience at Bonsai will have turned them into complete and valuable men, for their roles in the world outside.

There is only one girls hostel at Ligbron Academy of Technology. It is called Kiepersol. All girls who successfully qualify for Hostel accommodation will stay in Kiepersol.
The name Kiepersol originates from the Anglo Boer War. It is an awesome, formidable tree that has been around longer than any human on earth today. The British, upon retreating from the Boers, apparently hid up such a tree and wondered “Will it keep us all?”… And also wondered: “Will it keep our souls?” The part “keep our souls” eventually became Kiepersol.
This is symbolic for the place where we want our girls to be “kept safe” within the school environment. It is also symbolic of our girls who become awesome, formidable human beings within their society. The hope is that this hostel could “hold us all” and “keep our souls”.
